    Hey guys,

Been doing my research for about a month now and finally decided to purchase a JBJ 24 gallon nano cube from craiglist locally. Not sure if I got a good price on it but I figure with the accessories that came with it, it was a good deal. Got the tank with a protein skimmer, water heater, a wall cleaner and some live sand for $150. I do need to replace the lights. I don't even know what the skimmer does yet. Any recommendations? As I know nothing about lighting. I just has the two blue LED lights that are working.

I plan to put a couple clown fishes and possibly 1 Mandarin Dragonet fish in the tank as a local shop has their dragonet fishes trained to eat live / frozen food. Definitely going to add some corals but thats in the long rug. I just got the tank set up last night and mixed the salt and water together. The salt measurement seems to be right around 31 - 32. Any input about my tank would be great! Thank you and can't wait to enjoy what 3reef has to offer!!!

Welcome to 3 reef. Lot's of good advice here. Mandarins in a small tank are hard to keep. It can be done but it will not be easy. I hade two in a 34 but I had to buy alot of pods before I trained them to eat frozen food. i had to spot feed them for weeks. A mandarin will empty your tank of pods in a couple of days. if the store has trained them for you that will save time but make sure you see it first. Good luck and again welcome to 3 reef

Hey guys! Thanks for the welcome!

FaceOfDeceit: Great to know you are in Charlotte! Do you guys have any aquarium meets or a group in Charlotte? I would definitely be interested in meeting up if so. I know what you mean by "unlike stores that are trying to sell." I feel robbed. I went to the fish store you live by, not saying no names, and purchased 1 - 55 gallon red sea salt mix, 1 - chlorine remover for tap water and 1 - saltwater level tester and was way over charged. The saltwater tester was $17.99 and only $7.99 at petsmart. Well i learned my lesson. Anyways, just venting! Great to meet you guys!
