    Hey all,

New to the hobby, new to the site. Spent the last 2 months reading everything I could and picking equiptment and materials along the way. Put everything together yesterday.

    65 gallon aquarium
    95 lbs Live Rock
    80 lbs live sand
    150w heater (x2)
350 gph Seio Flow Pump (x2)
750 gph Marineland Water Pump (using near surface to create surface movement
    BakPak Protein Skimmer
    Emperor 400 Power Filter

Any opinions? Ideas? Im thinking of bringing the cleaning crew in within the next 3-4 days.

*Don't worry im closely monitoring all my water quality parameters and taking notes along the way ;)

    Thanks everyone!

Welcome to 3reef, no need for the clean up crew until your cycle is complete in 4 to 6 weeks

What type of corals did you plan on keeping and what lighting are you using?

Did you have a preliminary stocking list or wish list for livestock including fish, invertebrates, and corals? It is highly recommended to plan additions of livestock ahead of time instead of picking out what looks good at the store, saves a ton of headaches and frustration!

Doesn't have to be anything official, but what fish were you considering adding and what corals do you want to keep? If you have any fish you were planning on getting from your local fish store while the tank is cycling is a good time to stop by and monitor the fish he has that you have your eye on, watch them eat and make sure they don't have any obvious signs of infection and have good color etc... that way when you come back to get them for your tank you'll have a good idea that they are doing well! Although with most "starter" fish such as clowns and gobies this is usually not a huge issue. Still a good habit to get into.

Idk, I start getting algae blooms earlier than that, depending on health of LR and source water used.

CUC should be fine, they won't starve that quickly, just add them when you start seeing algae growing in your tank... it's not a huge deal to add them before, CUC is usually pretty tough and can handle ammonia spikes with some exceptions. And one recommendation is go easy on the crabs!

I don't understand why you would want to put a CUC in during the cycle, much less a fish. It just seems cruel to me.

+1 on the going easy on the crabs though
