I wish I had followed that advice when I started. I ended up spending a lot more money than I had to and I ended up listening to the wrong people. I bought a ton of stuff from a LFS and ended up paying almost 2 times what I should have paid. I also bought some extra things that were not even needed. Also, when you plan stuff out, you tend to get more of what you want. Being patient seems to be a reoccurring theme in the saltwater fish hobby.
