    Hi everyone.
I'm currently planning an upgrade from my Red Sea Max 130D to a 100g tank. I plan on having beginner type corals, but I'm unsure what lights to get. It seems the more I read, the more confused I become about the lighting topic. The tank I'm looking at is 60 x 18 x 20. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

I would suggest a 4 bulb T5HO fixture. A 48" of 60" model will do. You could also go with 2 250W MH bulbs.

The T5 will use less energy than the MH and create less heat. If you buy a top quality fixture with top quality bulbs such as ATI for both you will be able to keep whatever light needing animal you like.

The metal halides, also may require you to add a chiller into the mix, where as depending on ambient temperature, you may not need it with t5. T5 will also allow you to adjust color spectrum to a more personalized level.

+1 for the 4 bulb T5 unit. I'm a big fan of leds, but I just got started as well and I currently have a 4 bulb T5 light and its perfect for starting out. It allows u to keep most stuff as mentioned. I wouldn't go with MH
