    I don't think it would matter what kind of glue you use as long as you let it set up first. After all pvc glue is used to hold the pipes together that carry water for human consumption.

    This is the same design that we have for our fuge... we are tho connecting a display sump area before the fuge.
    With the water moving from the display tank to the sump (putting mangroves and maybe a copepod chaeto ball in when set up),to the first chamber of the fuge where it would not go directly into the skimmer, but into the fuge itself, then back out into the tank

    There is a sepcific glue for drinking water pipes. just to be safe I used this....
    Any big box home improvement store carries it...

    hey! ok, so i'm moving ahead with my sump. i got some 'DAP Aquarium Sealant' it says that it's 100% silicone and safe for aquarium builds. would there be any reason this would not be reef safe? what should i do to ensure that my tank is safe?

    wait a minute now i used silicon for my sump and my baffles are acrylic but anywho diagram looks great

    so ive got my sump completed. it's cured for 24 hours. should i be running ro water through it for a while to make sure any undesireable junk from the silicone is gone? or can i just hook 'er up and see what happens?
