    Hi, Jim here from Illinois.

Use to have several large freshwater tanks but gave them up to chase my kids.

For Fathers Day they got me a biocube 14Gal. Looking forward to getting it setup but very concerned after reading everything here. Seems much more complicated than I imagined. Looking for a great "simple" beginners guide.

I found all kinds of things to change, make better, tweak, twist, scrape etc. I just want a nice tank with a pretty reef and 2 or 3 nice fish. Oh, where to start.

Welcome to 3reef. I actually came upon a book today at the book sore, called "Marine Aquarium Handbook Beginner to Breeder" (Revised & Expanded Edition). It is actually very helpful, even now that know quite a bit more than when I joined here 2 months ago. I suggest you look it up on amazon.com. Should help you out quite a bit with the whole SW thing.

Edit: the author is Martin A. Moe, Jr.

The Author Jeffrey Kurtz is pretty good at putting things in terms that are easier for beginners and this was great to start me off.
