    Hello all.I bought these 250w electronic ballasts and was hoping y'all might be able to help me chose some bulbs.What I know about lighting is very little to put it in a nutshell so please take it easy on me.This may be a stupid question but can I run 250w HQI double end bulbs with these ballasts?How do the double end bulbs compare to the mogul bulbs as far as lumen output?Thanks

    Need model numbers as well as brand name, if any. On one end or the bottom, there should be a placard as to all of the electronics (watts, amps, etc).

    All I have as of right now is the description of the items the seller gave.I have a picture of the tag on the ballast if I can get it to post.If you need more info I will post it once I receive the ballasts.Thanks

    Size: 250 Watt
    This ballast will power any metal halide 250W bulb. It does not over-drive the bulb, so output will be at the bulb manufacturer`s specifications. By using a constantly changing, very high frequency, the ballast will light any bulb without flicker. Longer bulb life and other features makes this the best ballast for all metal halide applications.

    Uses its unique, patented operating system, which allows you to save energy without compromising light output. By applying lower voltage across the lamp, energy consumption is reduced and lamp life is expected to be increased.

    Advantages:

    * Energy Savings of over 10% from High Efficiency
    * Longer Lamp Life due to constant output
    * Longer Ballast life due to low heat
    * Compact Size to fit most fixtures
    * High Frequency Operation is flicker & noise free

    Quality:

    * Built-in circuit protection
    o High Voltage, High Current Protection
    o High Temperature Shut-Down
    o Improper Wiring Protection
    o Automatic Bulb Failure Shut-Down
    o Automatic Resetting
    * Starts in Cold Temperature
    * Starts in Low Voltage Environments
    * Allows up to 30 feet between Lamp and Ballast

    Yeah that's them.I'm going to be putting these on my boat.Upgrading from halogens.Nobody on the forums I frequent know anything at all about double ended bulbs.They are pretty sharp on the single end bulbs tho.I searched the web quite a bit last night looking for info on them and that's how I found y'all.If they will work at all with these ballasts then that's what I would like to use.Reason is because I think they may hold up better to riding rough water and I can build nice small fixtures for them kind of like how a 500 watt halogen is made and remote wire my ballasts up under the deck.So I guess what else I need to know is which bulbs put out the most lumens of light in both single and double ended versions.If double ended bulbs won't work then scratch that idea and we can just move right on along to talking about mogul base bulbs.Thanks

    you might want to email the seller and ask what type of bulbs he used. if it doesnt say HQI on the ballast its probly mogul socket type bulbs.
