Alright guys bare with me here. First of all I think this is a great forum. My tank has been set up for 2 months now. I started the tank with 60 lbs of live (fine) sand, 70 lbs live rock. Waited 2 weeks than off to the lfs to get the water tested. Lfs said everything looked great. Bought a couple of damsels waited a few weeks retested and then I bought a blue tang. The tang is very lively and eats like there is no tomorrow. Now it appears to have ick. White spots on the tail that is now on the dorsel fin. One of his eyes became really dull and greyish. I don't have a medic tank (not yet) and didn't want to treat my entire tank. None of my other fish have any signs as of yet. Now my question, can my blue tang recover from this without treatment? And now the eye is back to normal, but the white spots are still present. Can a shrimp help pick that stuff off?
Remember kinda new here so sorry for the any dumb questions.

    My tank consists of:
4 blue damsels (almost on their way back to the lfs)
    1 blue tang
    1 spotted puffer
    1 blenny
    1 osc clown
    3 hermits
    1 emerald
    2 anemone
    70 lbs live rock
    60 lbs live sand

not a dumb question at all. tangs are very susceptible to ick. keep him well fed and it should fight off the ick. do you also feed it nori or some other type veggie matter? good luck with the tang

I feed it green marine algae (with garlic), but doesn't really eat much of that. He seems to like the brine shrimp along with some added prime reef flakes better. I do have the uv sterlizer running 24/7 since I added the tang. I usually only run it for a couple of weeks after I get a new fish. I will keep it on til the problem goes away. I think it is a good sterilizer.

If he is eating and other wise healthy, he should fight it off on his own. The UV should help too.
