as the maintenance supervisor for a 55 gal display tank in the foyer at our church, we have had a series of sightings of assumed snail eggs, white,zig-zag pattern on the glass just after water changes. saw a cerith snail in near proximity to one of these "zippers".. any folks with info as to how i can save some of the young snails or do they even reproduce in captivity? we have 45# LS and 50# LR in place now ,, only filtration is a fluval 404, with an upgrade to a 10 or 20 gal refugium in the works. lighting is standard Wal-Mart issue florescents(2 x 15 watts) with a "hopeful" upgrade in the near future, any info i can get on the snail eggs would be much appreciated,, thank you all

Snails do reproduce in our tanks and from your description of the pattern, it sounds like that's exactly what's happening in yours. Unfortunately, your fish will eat most of the eggs off the glass but those that they don't get eaten will most likely hatch :)
