4 months ago I purchased SpectraPure RODI system. Checked water with TDS was 0.00 lolThat is good. Now after 4 months and making around 400 gallons checked water shows 148x 10 pomp. That is terrible!!!!!!!! I checked my water from faucet showdows 142. So water from faucet is 10 times worse. Is that right? What should I do? Is thats why my fishes got ick? For 6 years did not have that problem? What now? Is that filter a garbage. Membrans last only 4 months? Crazy.Please help. Thanks

 

I should mention that I have 125 reef and all coral ( LOS, DOS ) doing great.

 

What is LOS and DOS? (LPS and SPS i assume)

 

The water from the faucet would be 10x's better, not 10x's worse.

Your fish also didn't get ich because the water is high in TDS. A high dissolved solids number may have been an indirect effect or a facilitator, but certainly not a direct effect of fish getting ich. This however would be a direct effect of an algae bloom.

Somebody on here you could ask is AZDesertRat. He answered all of my questions about RO/DI's and is very knowledgeable on the subject. My guess is the membranes don't necessarily have a time limit, but more a gallon maximum they can handle before needing replaced. Kind of like a lightbulb, the more you use it the faster it needs replaced.

 

Sorry for all mistakes. It happens when you use phone instead computer. LOS, DOS ofcourse LPS and SPS. Water from faucet is 10 times better then water from filter is what I meant. At least numbers say that.

 

i agree with what has been posted above maybe try flushing membranes and retest after if that doesnt work id say replace your membranes and DI
