    Yep, that's an urchin. The other is an aiptasia.......try to get rid of it. They can be a real pain.

    Definitely an urchin. Some kind of pencil urchin I think.

    And the other is an aiptasia anenome. Do a search on that pest asap. (edit - looks like I was in a typing fight with reef ninja and lost :lol: )

    Yep. Black one is an urchin. White is aptasia anemone.

    i only have the light that came with the tank setup..do i need to get a special light for the urchin??

    The urchin doesn't need light. But it does eat algae. Since it's a new tank, you may not have enough algae to support it. The aptasia can be killed with lemon juice or aptasia x.

    I have some "brownish" stuff growing on my "non-living" rocks is that algea?? will the urchin eat that ??

    That is diatomes. I'm not sure if they eat that. You should be able to tell by observing. They leave tracks where they've eaten. They eat a lot. I have my doubts that there is enough algae in there to support one. I'd say do it a favor and see if your LFS will take it back for a while. I'm sure you don't want to see it starve. You can also see if it will take seaweed.
