That's why Nunch steered me over here. You guys seem to listen, and don't tell us noobs how bad we're doing stuff. (Yeah, we're doing stuff bad, but, we have to go through this process) I'm really beginning to appreciate your advice, and friendships. Thanks all!

It'll be great in a couple years being the 'old timer'. For now, I enjoy everyone's input.

I'm really looking forward to the progress of my tank, and sharing it with everyone!

I was under the impression, 4-6 weeks. It might be in my best interest to continue to take it easy, see what happens. Thanks Luna!

you do have one thing down that many experienced people still don't, the idea of taking slow. If I were you, I would do exactly what you have said, just wait a few weeks and see what happens. Luna is right in saying that the cycle can last up to 12 weeks, but the only way YOU will know is by testing. Keep up the good work and if you can post some pics. so we can all see.
I'm in your boat right now too, my tank is currently cycling and I've just experienced my first algae bloom. However, also remember that nothing is set in stone. Give it some more time and see what grows. By the way, how big is your tank? I have a 55 gallon and upgraded from the lights that came with it to a T5 fixture. I got it on sale for $198 from Dr. Foster and smiths. Keep us posted

I have a 75 gal tank. I was going to do 55 gals, but the system was on sale. $60 more for 75 gals (stand, lights, etc, like that really matters, but I was looking at the gallons). When I found out all the 'stuff' I had to get for 55 gal was about the same for up to 100 gal, I decided to go with the 75 gal system. Same stuff worked for both. LOL, was I in for a shock how much rocks were! I have a great LFS store, something I'm finding out folks here are complaining about, so I'm lucky there. They recommended the T5's as you mentioned. I haven't bought them yet. I'm still getting over the sticker shock of everything else I had to get up to now!

Thanks for the kudos, I've been wanting to do this for 4 years, and finally took the plunge. Waiting isn't a problem, it's part of the 'fun'. Heck, I still wake up in the middle of the night and think, what the heck did I do buying a 75 gal tank? Can I take this all back?

BTW, you're the first poster on this forum to 'get it'.

Perhaps just the first poster to mention it. This place is filled with brainiacs. Voo Zhah Day, they say!

How did you do that purple writing? Anyway, my goal is to have a tank I enjoy doing. I don't care about the latest and greatest, as long as my fish are happy and thriving and I like what I'm doing. If my tank becomes a chore, then, I've lost site on why I did a tank in the first place. So far, It's been fun doing this, and it's fun figuring out the next steps. With the help of everyone here, it's been a bonus.

Watching my 2 year old granddaughter see 'nemo' is a HUGE plus. She's going to be a fisherman in the tradition of her aunts and grandpa. (They are walleye and bass fisherman, hey it's Wisconsin). Enjoying a tank is part of the 'fish' experience.

    Great pics!
    Tank's coming along nicely.
Don't do anything to "promote" algae growth, it'll come wether you like it or not. just enjoy this time when you don't have to worry about cleaning your glass every other day.
T5's are a good choice, you can keep alot of starter corals w/ those, i wish i woulda went T5 instead of PC's. but hey, the PC's were free so i can't complain too much.

LOL, you're right, no one 'mentioned' it. But, you were the first to mention it here on this forum ..... It's one of those names I just 'float' out there. You'd be surprised how many don't comment. It's a good name, I'm happy with it. Regardless, it's my dog's name backwards (she's an 11 years old GSD), and at the time, I didn't realize she'd create so much talk...... I'm just an animal person.
