Next add to Ryan's 55g

    Hey guys,

    I am trying to decide on what to add next to my 55g.

    I have some LPS but want to eventually have some good SPS growing.

    I currently have two oscelaris clowns, a flame angel and two very small reef chromis.

    I am thinking for future/next additions (not all, but trying to determine which)
    - Royal Gramma
    - 2 x Banggai Cardinals
    - Goby and pistol shrimp
    - A reef safe wrasse of some sort
    - Anthias of some sort?

    How many more fish do you guys think I can get? I'm thinking the royal gramma and goby/ pistol shrimp pair are high on my list.

    I have heard some Gobys can annoy corals by spitting and shifting sand around?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Your preferred fish would be fine to add to the tank. Watchmen gobies do not move sand or do very little.

    I wouldn't get the goby shrimp pair mine are paired up in my 29 but It's towards the back and u never see them

    I also have a 55 and your list is similar to my proposed:

    Royal Gramma (already have)
    (2) Fairy Wrasse (already have)
    Lawnmower Blenny (already have)
    Watchman & Pistol
    (2) Ocellaris clowns
    Flame Angel

    My list is in the order I intend to add in order of aggressiveness. You may need to sump the angel when you add the RG or if you go with a fairy or flasher wrasse (due to how shy they are at first). Most resources tell you to add the flame angel last for this reason.

    Either way, if you keep all 5 you have, you may only be able to get 3-4 more depending on your filtration and your maintenance schedule. I love my RG, and would highly recommend one. That with a watchman/pistol and maybe a wrasse would be nice I think. But if you do get a fairy or flasher, I would get them in there ASAP.

    Thats all part of setting up a little ecosystem :)

    Thanks for the advice, Im probably going to go with the royal gramma and goby/pistol shrimp pair and leave it at that for fish :). I think I might lay off a wrasse at the moment, they haven't really grabbed me in the LFS or online.

    Then I will concentrate on getting a few more inverts like a cleaner shrimp etc and maybe some sexy shrimp :). Then ill build on my little reef :).
