next new fish, purple tang

    i was down at my lfs, and they got some purple tangs in. my question is does anyone recomend i get one or disagree. im sure there are quite a few differing opinions, but that helps make my decision that much harder. lol, which is fine by me. i like the info and opinions here, helps this newbie oearn. thnx in advance.

    i dont see why you cant you dont have atang already. and your tanks big enough.

    pick up a packet of nori while you down there

    My experance with them is they can be aggressive in time towards new tankmates... But great looking fish...

    theres nori on a clip as we speak for fox faced and angel , so im prepared that way. they like broccoli too? i know theyve got an agressive side to them. but thats why i came on here. to get some perspective from others thnx , much appreciated.

    they will eat brocilli, some people freeze of boil it to make it more edible.

    i wouldnt worry about aggression unless your getting another tang

    no plans for any other type tang. had considered a hippo.

    i would consider the hippo just as aggressive.
    i had a buddy whose hippo killed 8 yellow tangs. 5 of them were at once
    talk about surgeoncide, but it did leave the purple he added alone so who knows:confused:

    and here i considerd dory (hippo) to be all cute and gentle. guess thats a woman for you. lol. and please ladies no disrespect meant what so ever.

    I always keep 2 stalks of broccoli on a clip as well as some garlic algae sheets hangin. (I vaccuum freeze fresh heads, then put them in warm water before I put it in). I've got 3 yellow tangs, and a blue hippo. Dori just keeps to herself. The three yellow tangs, however, on occassion, chase each other around.
    They all love the broccoli, and have been eating some of the flakes I feed the others. Good luck with the purple tang! I wish my LFS had them, or even a brown tang!
