If you look at the last one it is intende for a tank like seahorses. The intake is actually a little to tall in this pic. The top of the "T" is incase the sponge clogs. It is to deal with overflow.

Not at all, this thread rises and falls a lot. I for one appreciated the input.

    works great

Now my owerflow has been runing for 2 weeks and works great.
Some low noise when the water mixed with air flow down to the sump in the pvc pipe,
Only need to build something over the sump to hide it.

didnt need one but had to try .so i made one . I put a TOM AQUA LIFTER PUMP to keep it primed .and to keep the noise down i put a loop in my down drain so there would be water in it all the time. like a trap under a sink.

You don't need the TOM, these overflows actually works;D
I used mine for over a year and a half and half an I have never lost prime. After the first month I stopped pulling air out of mine as it seem to clear it just fine on its own.

You could use the TOM for something useful like setting up a auto top off.

One thing that can make these quieter is to add a cap/plug to the top of the siphon break "T" then just drill a small hole in the top of it to allow air to enter.
