I have a Tama "Swingstar" series 5 pieces with added hardware. I bought it used 12yrs ago, so who knows when the 1st buyer bought it. I've been play "air drums" since I was 12 but "real" playing about 12-14 yrs now. Of course, not every day, when ever I get a chance. I play some Pink Floyd, Men at Work, Collective Soul, Simple Minds, "tried" some Metillica, Journey, Rush and some others. My daughters love to hop on and just jam....lol Luna

Dude that's awesome about your daughters. when I have kids with any luck they will be little metalheads. Is the swingstar laminated? Sometimes those old kits have really nice grain patterns under the laminate. Metallica is difficult for me with the off-time cymbol work. I don't care for Lars but he isn't a bad drummer. If you want to hear something technically amazing check out Devine Heresy. Most of my influences come from the 90's because that's when I started. 311, jimmies chicken shack, deftones (joy,) STP, 40 below summer, Lot's of punk.

Well, the music will differ b/c we're from different generations, but the love of music is the same. Besides not having the time to play, when I do, its for a short time b/c I have Carpal Tunnel and my fingers get numb.

Yes it is laminated, if I remember correctly, Van Halen had/has the same pattern drum set. Its blk with white lines going all over the place.
