i saw one at my local lfs that was the size of a quarter. this is one of the fish i have debated on getting for my new 55 gallon FOWLR tank. but i dont really know how agresive they are, so i was wanting some first hand experience from you guys and gals. are they more aggressive than the huma huma? is it as personable as the huma huma? just wondering.

Gexx, it is my understanding that they are NOT as aggressive as the Huma, however triggers can turn aggressive the larger they get. I have a pink tail trigger in my reef and so far she is the most passive fish in my tank, except when it comes to feeding time, then you better not get between her and the food.

ok, i just want something that wont attack the dwarf lionfish i plan on putting in the tank. i know triggers can sometimes nip the fins of the lions

I have a Humu and a Bursa that live excellent with and my Lion....and they are known to be way more aggressive than nigers...so i would say your probably safe on that end...

basically, they most likely will not attack a lion fish if that is what you are worried about, what i suggest is to make sure you get the trigger as a baby and make sure there are larger fish in the tank to show it its place so that it does not get too "cocky." also if you want a trigger it will need larger than a 55 g. at the size you say it is now it is plenty, but by the time it grows up it will most likely need a 75 g. hope that helps. i would not worry about the lion fish as they don't generally cause trouble and i dont think the trigger will as a baby.

I think Humu's have more personality...mine is like a dog..gets excited to see me...grunts at me...so does the bursa...

all triggers have a trait to turn violent, they can be perfectly behaved for years then one day just kill everything in the tank with them, buy at your own risk on any triggers
But if you want to live dangerously get a Undulated Trigger, their the Jeffery Dahlmer of the fish world
