well everyone I got my 2 ARO 175w MH ballasts today!! Have them hooked up and finally got light on the tank. Put about 30 frags in the tank too. :) Love the shimmering effect from the new lights, and it makes my other pc/t5 lights look like there not even on! show what do u guys/gals think? ;D

Can you tell which tank the MH lights are on? lol

sweet!!! That must be the reason the experts choose a combo. MH's for growth, T5 for eye catchy colors... I want that as well!!! Although I think my tank is bright enough, but I want to be able to see these guys grow and take off!!

Congrats on the new lights!! It looks awesome. Maybe some closer picture of those frags I see at the bottom? ;)

thanks, its nice to get a light over the tank.. still more things to come. stay tuned.

Yea the 2 hamilton 10k bulbs put out a nice white super bright 8) color.. need to see how they the color is after they burn in. I'll definitly need to get 2x54w t5 bulbs in the hood for the blue color missing. Colors definitly dont look glowing as they did in other (pc/t5) tank, but I'll need to give them some time to get acclimiated to the new lights also. I'll get some more pics in a few days for ya. ;D

At the frag-swap thing I went, 2 people that are into frag propagation and selling told me that if temp goes higher than 81 in a non-circulating water environment SPS usually die or have a very hard time recovering.

They recommended water temp at 77... I don't know how much is true. But they did sound dead serious about it.

Again, this is IF the frags are in a show environment where they have tubs and very poor to no water circulation.

Are the frags liking the change?

well I do have decent flow in there, so that helps. my other tanks usally around 80-81 during the hottest time of the day. so I basically just need to get this new tanks temps down a couple degrees.. will be getting a clipon fan for the back of the hood soon. should help alot. I also got some updated pics for ya.. I moved my sps and clam over last night. I have a few corals that werent doing so well in my other tank so I hope the recover under the new lights.. (ie. green slimer, purple candycanes, purple digitata) I do notice the polyps are starting to come out some.. enjoy.

Very nice, my friend!! I agree with you on the fan. I had to buy one as well to cool off my water in these hot days. It's just crazy hotter than it normally is.

It looks like you're gonna have very bright and happy frags! :)
