so tonight i noticed there was a spot of light which hit the corner of my tank during night, lights have been out for 2 hours. as im staring into what i see i noticeably hundreds of billions of these tiny white grasshopper like bugs all over glass, swimming, everywhere, they looked different than the large copeopods running around too. Well i noticed my shrimp were devouring these things up. i coincidently woke up some of the other fish and they swam over to the light but saw these critters and since have been having a feast?

Im just wondering what they are? cuz the fish and shrimp are going nuts for these little critters.

Just more pods, copepods are little ones like you are seeing, amphipods are bigger ones you are calling large copepods

Yup probably amphipods, had tons of them at one point too, but my shrimp/mandarin had other plans lol. Definitely a good sign to have them.

It could be larvae as they would be attracted to the little area of light.

Well it was the way they were moving which made me wonder. They weren't crawling but bouncing about like tiny grasshoppers. They were super tiny my macro setting can't even see these. And yes thy were attracted to the lit area more than the darker. Made a great feeding place for everyone

That honestly sounds like larvae bing eating. Especially where the shrimp's commotion woke the fish up to join in... that doesn't sound like average pod dining.

Were any of your shrimp pregnant?
    Do you have hermits?

So far, there have been 2 people on here who had hermit babies a week apart LOL.
