Hey I have a yellow tang (1.5 inch), Blue tang (3 inch) maroon clownfish (3 inch) black yellow tail damsel (1.5 inch) and a red volitan lionfish (3.5 inches) 1 peppermint shrimp, and 1 skunk cleaner shrimp. It's a 75 gallon, so they have quite a bit of room to swim around. I know eat seems odd, but all fish are calm together, and there is very little aggression as long as I feed them a small amount every day, in stead of more food every other day. I have a sump filter, a bio wheel filter, and 80 lbs of live rock, so the bio load is not a problem. But anyways, all were living in harmony until now. It looks like the yellow tang and the clownfish have nipped pectoral fins. I'm 100% positive it isn't fin rot. And the pieces missing are very small, so that rules out the lion. I'm thinking it is the damsel, the blue tang, or possibly the peppermint shrimp. Blue Tangs are supposed to be non- aggressive though, what do you guys think?

Blue Tangs are less aggressive when they have enough room. Depending on the type of "blue" tang the suggested minimum tank size is 125 (powder) to 180 (everything else). If i were you I would catch that blue right now and try to take it back. Your Yellow is pretty small right now but as he grows im relatively certain he will fight your clown as well.

I had a powder blue 2-3" long kill a larger kole and a lavender tang in 100g where i was holding them. They can be terror's when perceiving a threat to "their" feeding territory. I now have a small Tomani and a lavender that are getting along in a 125g. I would say if you want a good tang go with a Kole or a Tomani in your tank.

Dang, I really love my tangs:( I have the yellow in isolation right now. And there is absolutely no other way to get them to live together? I mean I'm, willing to bring him back to the store, I just really want to make that the last possible solution because my girlfriend bought him for me for Christmas and she would feel really bad. So if you or anyone else has any other possible solutions, it would be much appreciated. And if not, maybe one day when I'm upgraded, I can house my tangs in my dream 400 gallon reef tank. That's thousands of dollars away though, haha:)

You might be able to keep the yellow in that tank. The blue will quickly outgrow it.

If you really love them you will find them a bigger home.;) Also don't be surprised if that Volitan makes that damsel and or those shrimp his lunch.

If it was added Christmas it could be the usually "new fish on the block" territory war. But like said above, that blue will outgrow your tank.:(

I called the store, I'm bringing him back in tomorrow. Thanks for the advice everyone, I really appreciate it! And I know that the volitan might eat the damsel, he's just left over from when I cycled, haha. I didn't have the heart to bring him back (he was my first saltwater fish!):)

Now that I'm trading my blue tang in, does anybody have any suggestions for peaceful fish that would be compatible with my tank?

It's a reef tank. I looked at some reef safe wrasses though. The carpenter flasher wrasse is cool! What else?
