Hey, about 2 wks ago I picked up a pair of angels for my reef tank. 120gallon. 1 wk ago my nitrates were about 15ppm and I did a water change, 25 gallons. The nitrates currently a week later are between5ppm-10ppm and I would do a water change in a week. Will running nitrate levels like this constantly have a negative effect on my corals or fish, I think the fish should be ok, curious about the corals, I have: mushrooms, xenia, hammerhead, torch, blue maxima clam, devils hand, zoas, brain maze coral, plate corals, and a sun polyp coral. potentially the tank could be overstocked with the addition of the angels, looking for advice, want to make sure I don't let this get out of hand. Thanks, let me know if you need more info!

5-10ppm is ok.. just stay up on your weekly water changes. you might want to add more live rock slowly down the road. 90lbs in a 150g tank is alittle light.

question: where was your nitrate reading before the new addition?
from your sig description it does not seem that your tank is overstocked but probably at its limit.
i dont think 5-10 is that bad but the clam may not approve (but i dont know much about clams so ill leave it to someone else). i try to keep mine under 5 but i've seen it get a little higher with little/no signs of stress. maybe decrease feeding? water changes will fight rising nitrates but wont solve it. I'd say watch for polyps contracting for prolonged periods during the day as that might be a good sign of rising nitrates.

I was thinking the same thing about the LR.

I probably have about 100 pounds of LR now, the only coral that seems to be having issues is my sun polyp, the nitrates were approx 0-5 ppm,
