i would start by rinsing any biomedia in your sump in saltwater.

i would definitely consider adding a fuge as thats probably the fastest way to remove nitrates.

you may also consider a dsb in the fuge, a fuge should be about 10% of dt volume

If you only found bones then the damage is already done, you'll have to wait it out and let your tank adjust.

Continue water changes and try the "Vodka method"!
Make sure that your test kit is accurate as well!

    Seachem. Prime

its my favorite dechlorinator for fresh tank. but it also detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. it doesnt remove it but it does bind it so it isnt toxic to livestock

edit: btw i asked how your macros are growing because, just because you have a fuge doesnt mean its working, the plants need to be growing to absorb nutrients

Prime is awesome but I also switched over to alph by aquavitro...basically the same as prime but is more concentrated so you use less

Honestly I think you are going to see another spike in your levels from moving the rocks around and taking your powerhead to the rocks and sand. Anytime you move your rocks around you cause a "minicycle"

If your naso was dead for 2 weeks...chances are the body is long long gone. However you have to realize ammonia then nitrite, then nitrate! How is your ammonia level right now? That cycle can take 2 weeks or so.

How has your levels been prior to this? I am wondering if your levels were not elevated in the past cause a Naso in a 220 dying would cause a spike, but I would not think that MAJOR Of one.

You might look at a denitrator....I have one. Bought it from Tangster...works awesome. I have it in my FOWLR tank and it does wonders. Also make sure you are not overfeeding, etc

Waterchanges only drop nitrate and stuff a fraction....you need to do a massive waterchange to get them down, much much more then 40g. That would cause major stress on your other fish.

So I would recommend Prime or Alpha...you can dose upto 4x the dose with Alpha (Forget how many times you can dose with Prime) but do the emergency dose on which ever you get. That will be amazing the result that you get. Then do another 40g or so water change in a couple days, then redose.

Good luck! Again sorry about your naso
