    Hey all:

My tank has been reading high nitrates for some time and nothing I do seems to lower them. By high I mean hovering around 50 with salifert test kit for weeks now. 15% water changes every week, siphon sump, etc the works on maintenance. However, all of my acros and montis seem fine with significant polyp extension so I am starting to question the test.

Anyway, I am thinking about getting a Pinpoint Nitrate Monitor. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this piece of equipment and how it worked. I want to research a little before I drop that kind of money on something. So, any thoughts or input? Anyone have one or used one?

Following. I test 60-80 on api and 4-5 on shin's red sea test. I would imagine they are both wrong.

Yes I have seen a lot of negative reviews but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Anyone have specific reasons or experience? My eyes are terrible at small color changes haha.

I have also found a trend in most of the feedback I find with google. It seems a lot of it is from any year up to 2010. Any updated models or fixed bugs could help. Maybe?

Have you taken some water to a LFS to compare your results with there's?

The only LFS within 60 miles uses API so no. I was looking for something more definitive than a color match.
