Nitrate Removers

Anyone ever use that product AZ-NO3 ?
would you recommend it?

Also what about the Kent Marine Nitrate Sponge? Can I buy that and put it in a bag in the sump? Will that help me lower my nitrates that way or does it need to be in a reactor or something?

I currently have Seachem Purigen in a bag in the sump...just want to add to it to help the nitrate situation. They are around 30ppm right now and I've been doing water changes every 2 days.

if you have a nitrate problem you should find the cause and correct it. are you overfeeding? overstocked tank? do you have a good protein skimmer? do you change water?

 

I heard the az no3 works. There's a lot of threads about it. I tried the Kent marine and it didn't do much.
Like said above though you need a proper nutrient export.

 

The last guy that had the tank overfed way too much and didnt really do water changes.
When I bought the tank the nitrates were over 200...it was friggin nuts.

I have been changing water every 2 days and finally got them down to about 30 now....just tested today.

I wanna get a little extra umph...help...from an additive or something, while i continue to do water changes.

I have a new sump almost ready to go in and I am gonna put a fuge in it along with a new Aqua C EV 240 skimmer.

Once those are rolling I should be good to go hopefully.

I feed Tues, Thurs and Sat. and only have 2 clowns, 1 damsel and one 1 tang. I removed 3 big triggers and brought them to LFS.

Working hard at this nitrate thing....almost there though!

 

Do a 50% water change, vacuum your substrate, clean all filters/bioballs etc.. dont feed. and you'll have 15ppm nitrates in 2-3 days.

I've been vodka dosing for last 7 weeks.. from 80+ppm to 20ppm.. but Im not going there..

small WC dont work fast enough.. 50%+ will help you out..

 

Mangroves, or cheato, would help too.

I have been doing 30% water changes every 2 days for 2 weeks now. I vacuum the sand too. Its dropped from over 200ppm to about 30ppm now.

I just want to get a boost here.

I saw AZ NO3 and something else called microBacter7. Do you think I should give one or both a try?

 

you'll want PURA NitrateLock. it can be reused 100 times..

The only way to really make them go away is find the true cause.....cheato and mangroves will work but wont really make that large of a difference. The removers might work but its only delaying whats gonna happen when u run out. IMO find the cause and go after fixing that first and for most.
