Dosing Vodka will help set ur NO3 and PO4 to zero... Also improve the "color" of ur tank. Just something to think about. :)

Buy or build a sulfur denitrator. I built one and it worked for me when nothing else did. Deep sand bed only helped a little. Coil denitrator did nothing. Commercial chemical nitrate remover / destroyers did nothing (these were essentially dosing alcohol). Sulfur denitrator took my tank from a persistent nitrate level of 20 down to zero in 1 month.

oki i made a bad mistake when i first set this tank up 8 months ago i had bad problems with colour in the water so bad i couldent see the back of the tank, where i was buying my r/o from hadent checked ther filters and was selling me normal tap water, so after 2 months of frustration, of water changes constantly, i was sold a vectron i was told to fit this to the outlet pipe wich i did, now after trying to grow calupra in there for the next 2 months with no sucsess i i planted mangroves wich grew, i found a great source for r/o things where on the up. but couldent loose the nitrate ! i joined here and read up for myself on fuges and to my amazement found that uv kills goodness going to the fuge i disconnected the uv.that was a month ago since then i have planted sertularioides and added another light in there and its going mad now.
