    if you dont have an RO/DI, then go to your local walmart and buy water from the culligan machine. it is only RO, but MUCH better than tap. here it only costs 37 cents/gallon. This is what i am doing currently while i save up for an RO/DI.

    First thing I would do it test my water change water for nitrates, Ammonia and Nitrites. From there you can see if it's a problem with your change water.

    Personally I do not think 60lbs is necessary in a 30G tank. I would check your mechanical filter, take out all the floss type filters that can trap and contribute to Nitrate increases.
    I would then feed about 1/2 of what you are feeding now.

    but again first I would check you water source.

    You need to be careful with the machines that sell RO water. Very often the filters are not being maintained correctly and can hive high levels of everything we try and avoid

    I don't use tap water.. I purchase RO/DI water from the local wallmart :(

    I have heard that clams feed on nitrates has anyone ever tried this?

    i would NOT put a clam in anything but prestine water and great lighting. Try reducing your feedings to every other day. Do a couple water changes, then see where you are.

    I dont have any floss type filters only I'm running a 3 stage setup in my aqua clear 70. And running a carbon insert in my nano rio skimmer... That water I buy is 0 on everything...I will reduce my feeding more..
