Nitrates and API

you already have them IMO
Just not in the required ratio to the other bacteria doing the 1st x 2 parts of the waste processing (nitrogen cycle)

by removing the noodles - that will reduce the real estate for oxygen favouring bacteria, and at same time creating extra capacity for bacteria
to replace the bacteria lost when you remove the noodles

I dont expect that action alone will create the balance we are looking for
although it might help move it in the correct direction

but combine that with removal of rock, and accompanying debris that the sump will by now have accumulated

and IME that will make a significant difference to the balance and thus reduce your nitrate levels

IME with API, if you dont keep the test tubes clean..If you dont do the mixing right, if you mess up on one TINY thing, it screws up the test..

I had a reef master or whatever and it had a nitrates, it test 80-100ppm..I was like, this is crazy, so i went back to LFS and bought a single nitrate test kit and tested 15ppm..

With API, i would think that if its testing a horrible reading that its extremely high and you KNOW its not that high then its either old or a dirty test tube and or your doing the mix wrong..I actually put a timer on while mixing you have to be that accurate.

 

Copy-write and expiration are two different things.

 

It says copywrite 2006 and was made in August of 2006. The copywrite has to be the same as the year it was manufactured and since im looking for how many years it is old that tells me when it will expire.
