Nitrates at ZERO. From 20 - Here is what I did.

When done correctly, these do a better job and give you much more flexibility.

 

If the light is right - 2-3 days and you'll see it going. Two weeks and you'll be full to the brim. ;D

 

I am glad this poped up again. So I decided and my walet also decided that I would try this approach to my nitrate problem. I am still waiting on getting cheato but have changed sump lights to they cheep setup. the bulbs I found was 6700k and am going to use 2 lamps. I have lots of calupra and am going to start with this untill cheato gets in.

 

nitrates testing at 40 ppm right now and have been that way for a week.

 

In a short time the cheato will take off and the Calupra will be shaded out and start to die.

You may want to give it away now. ;D

 

My nitrates test somewhere around 10-15 without the chaeto. Just got mine a couple days ago, hopefully it drops. Using 6500k bulb here.

Hope it works out for you - I got mine from reefcleaners, no LFS had it available.

 

I wouldn't worry at the 10-15 range one way or the other.

 

I am constantly pitching calupra. if you were here I could give you about 1/2 gal worth.
