I guess we'll see if this does the trick.

I used the same set with my fuge. In it I have about 30 pds of crushed coral, a few small pieces of LR and cheato/calpernia. However my fuge seems to have a bad cryno problem now. It started in the DT but now has almost completely died there and blowing up the fuge. My cheato doesn't grow as fast as it should but the light is on 24/7. It is nice watching the algae bloom in the fuge rather than the DT

In my opinion - That's what the fuge is for. Keep all the algae and ugly stuff out of the DT until you figure it all out.

Try a new bulb and only keep the light on 12 hours. That may help.

The reason the lights are on all the time is due to the calpernia going asexual.

Well, I saw a deal that's impossible for me to say no to. Marineland makes a Deep Dimension Series tank, stand and canopy that I found on sale for less than half price.
    http://www.marineland.com/sites/Marineland/Products/productspotlight.aspx

We're talking 48"W x 36"D x 27"H 200 gallons in all! The whole ball of wax for a little over a thousand at $1150. This setup can go for $2500 elsewhere. I can't imagine what this tank weighs but it's close to 400 lbs. Oh did I tell you it was Starfire glass. Awesome deal! I'm excited about it. I'll show some pictures when I get it. This is truly a daunting task for a not so journeyman reefer like myself but I love the intrigue of it all and the fact that restrictions are less. I have a 48" 8X54W T5 retrofit on order. I have 2 2X39W T5 retrofit strips and a 175W MH and 2
20" moonlight LED strips. I might order more T5's or Metal Halides if need be but I have 763 Watts which is close to 4 watts per gallon so we'll see.
I'll stay in touch. Hey ALW, my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy and she's probably right!
Well I got scared at the last minute and decided to get the 120 gal All Glass with dual overflows. I didn't like the height on the Marineland stand. My girlfriend still thinks I'm crazy anyway!

I have read these posts and so far, no one has mentioned anything about adding iron to their water. My fish store owner advises me that it is a must for sucessful plant growth. Or is iron use so elementry in these posts, that it hasn't been mentioned - wilrod99 - first post

I have done nothing with iron and my chaeto has grown significantly over the last week.
