nitrates.. could too much same be the cause

    I have 3 to 4 inches of live sand in my 75gallon tank... and i cant seem to keep the nitrates down

    i do water changes of about 10gallons once a week but the nitrates stay up

    over the past week i have done about 10gallons a day.... and still they havent fallen... and im using a RO unit... water tests perfect before filling the tank

    how many fish do you have, and what are there sizes if they are bigger?

    Also do you have a skimmer?

    Just RO water? Not RO/DI? Not saying this is the problem, but it could be part of it. What are your nitrates at?

    sorry its RO/RI water... i have 10 small fish.
    3 clown golby
    2 clown fish
    1- 2inch blue hippo
    yellow wrasse
    2 baslets

    i havent been able to find my purple firefish for some time but he usually hides under rocks... could he of died and thats the cause?

    well you do have a decent amount of fish, whats your filtration like?
