Errrmm, sorry, but that's how my big tanks roll, lol. I did the ATS for a while, but when I had to treat with copper for ich, it killed the algae. I switched over to vodka because it's easier to maintain, plus I can remember to put it in every day.

I also think there is something else going on here. How 'bout some pictures of the tank, and a little more info.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

Jerry knows a lot more about big tanks than I, been out of the big tank game for awhile. If maintaining the vodka is easier than go for it, if you are new to the hobby you need to research vodka dosing big time.

And pictures are always a great great help.

    how to stop vodka dosing???

What do you suggest then since the vodka has already been started? I am new to the predator tank and when i was running reef i never had any other these problems. I think I should have just stuck with reef and community fish...I am starting to really dislike this predator thing. Is there anything that i can do since the vodka treatment has already been started....my lfs recommended the vodka and said that there was nothing else that could be done to reduce high nitrates am I going to have to dose with vodka forever since the process has already been started or is there anything that I can do about it? Thanks so much all....sorry i am acting like such a newbie to all of this but i really knew nothing about predators when i decided to switch i just wanted something different....thanks everyone for the advice....
