Tap water nitrates are 0, no color change in test. I feed once a day a very small ammoun, just enough for everyone to get some. Feed corals once a week.

So the cannister could be the problem? I have not cleaned the inside of it, only changed the carbon every 3-4 weeks or so. The carbon in it now is right about 2 weeks old.

So should i take the cannister apart and clean it out thoroughly?

There may be gunk on the outside of the baskets in your canister.

Sounds like a classic case of nuclear canister filters!!! Unless with every water change/carbon change you SCRUB the inside of that bad boy and the tubing - you are asking for nitrates.
