My 90 gallon upgrade has been cycling for a week, had an ammonia spike after a few days and now today the nitrite level jumped. I am upgrading from a 29g to a 90g and I wanted new sand and to re do the rock work so I figured I would have to cycle everything jut like a brand new tank. I put in a raw shrimp, 3 pieces of LR and about a cup of live sand. I just want to be sure the new tank is set before I transfer any coral or fish from the old tank.

Sounds like your off to a good start, and definitely have the right idea. Let everything cycle before transferring.

Sounds like a great plan. Seems as though all is moving in the right direction.
