    Salifert makes a good test kit. I have used API and Red Sea as well. I hear Hanna Checker's are the best though. I have never used one though.

    Yeah you should get your hands on a better kit. With test strips it's like driving blindfolded.

    I use an API test kit. It's OK. If you have the money than look into salfert.

    +1! I use my API test kit everyday. Plus using test tubes makes me feel smart for the whole ten minutes of me using them.

    I would recommend bacteria in a bottle which will still require an ammonia source like a hardy fish.

    If he has nitrites already though, he wouldn't need an ammonia source. You could use some Microbacter7 or Dr. Tim's product to help cycle though.

    LMFAO. Atleast I'm not alone on that one;)

    Oh and if you do bacteria in a bottle get a quality one like microbacter7 or dr Tim's one and only. I hear mixed reviews about API stress zyme.

    Thanks all...however I also test for ammonia and it tests as "stressful"

    Thoughts??

    "stressful" could meen anything. You'll need numbers to know anything.
