    I didn't start the cycle with anything. Just the LS and LR. I did put some Turbo start 900 in there LFS told me to. I have been reading alot so might be part of the problem. LOL..

    the responses seem to me that they read the OP as being 20 for nitrates, but the OP said 20 for the nitrites.


    Just pointing it out.

    I have this seen this very thing happen many time with people who tend to labor under the misconception that by tossing in some l/r and sand or a dead shrimp to rot they where cycling a tank , It does work to a point But unless you have a continual bio demand placed on the system like a single alive fish then all the bacterium on the rock and or the demand from a rotting hunk of fish or shrimp then it simply dies off and out and will not stay at a needed levels.. People tend to think the bacteria can build up like money in a bank But it can't and with ever new fish addition there is a 2 weeks period after wards to allow the bacteria to build up in the system to support the new added demand placed on the system by the new fish. And a water change will just unballance the system more then help it leave it alone and let the fish do its job. May take 4 or 5 weeks

    i think there is some confusion or missed something. Was the test parameter NitrITE at 20ppm or nitrATE @ 20 ppm
