sound is not an issue the louder the better lol my car that i drive is 500 horse power and only has about 2 feet of exhaust, its loud as can be lol, the neighbors already love me. as for its use the 3 people i will be using it with have nitro so im leaning twards nitro. i think the fastest is a revo. but i like to be different so im not against electric. just looking to go fast for as cheap as i can lol. i dont mind building one either ive built real race cars no problem. so any suggestions to look at specificly ?i like the losi they look pretty good to me. especially their feature on the controller.

The electric car is an old team associated RC10 that my dad bought for me(actually him) when I was quite young. My nitro car is a car I bought for my son(actually me because hes only 3 but loves to watch and help) is a traxxas jato 2.5.

If you want to go real fast for cheap look into the traxxas stampede, brushless of course, and its indistructable.

Most of the brushless Traxxas electrics will flat out fly right out of the box. I had a couple of HPI and Traxxas nitros over the years and recently my girlfriend and I bought matching brushless Stampedes and they are tons of fun and almost no maintenance compaired to the nitro models (not to mention they will leave my old nitro rs4 sitting). If you want something to build on though the T-Maxx has more aftermarket parts than almost any other model but they get pricey very fast. If you do decide to go electric dont skimp on the charger or the batteries you choose, they seem expensive at first for the good ones but there is a reason that some cost far more than others.

Yeah, when nitro a gallon of fuel will last you for flipping ever. If I were you, I'd go for the nitro simply because of what you're looking for, your experience with cars already, and your friends have nitro.

Because both nitro and electric have about the same cost. Yes, engines are expensive and brushless motors are cheaper. But then you have to add in the Lipo charger, lipo balancer, and a handful of lipo batteries and all that junk.

Here, I remember reading this a few years ago:
Team Losi Electric 8ight vs. Nitro 8ight

That should help you out alot, me thinks.

my offer of 350.00 shipped for the Ofna X1 CRT truggy still stands. Thats a pretty reasonable price for the truggy, 2 .28 ofna motors, airtronics radio, jammin upgrade parts, etc. I also posted it for sale here on the site.

My son and I own two Losi 8 and 8t's 2.0 and we feel that they are the best out there. You can't go wrong with them. We race ours at our local track (revrace.com) and we always do very well.

Two of them were recently converted to electric using the Novak HV Systems and LIPO Batteries. We are having a hard time deciding what we like better. They are both lots of fun and very competitive.

Nitro is very cool but does take a lot of work maintaining, cleaning and tuning. Our electrics are pretty much charge and go. Plus Nitro has recently jumped in price from $20 / gallon to over $50.

The start up cost is about the same. The electric parts cost as much as the nitro parts. We do seem to get more run time with our electics because we encounter less issues.

Anyways, you can't go wrong with either! Good Luck.
