    Thanks! I'll definitely show up more on this forum, to read and learn! I'm glad that people like the tank, i'm also pretty happy with the rockscape myself :) Good waterflow, caves, and holes in the rocks.

    welcome again bro, I've been a member of most sites, but stick here 99% of the time, great pro's without the *******s that can be on other sites, but with decent response time, 3reef rocks.

    I can't imagine there would be much going on after a day. +1 throw some dead raw shrimp in it then just leave it be for about 10 days and test again.

    explanation for your params listed in this thread about no cycling, last post (which is what you have, no cycle needed, the rock is fully ready, its not ever going to display ammonia)

    your nitrates, if accurate, are simply an indication of stored up organic material in your rocks which is typical depending on how they were stored/cared for before you got them. its likely the reading is too high. either way, you do not have to cycle this rock. You just start reefing.

    Only with dry sand and dry or uncured live rock will you need to "cycle"; With cured rock and live sand, the bacteria is already there.

    BTW, you stated that you looked for bacteria in the water with your microscope- yeah, it's not there, it's colonized on the rocks and sand. :)
