    thats why i was wondering if it was knob and tube. theres no ground wire with them i dont think. and i agree jon, run a new line if this is the case. electrical is always to be respected and must be done properly.

    They are perfectly safe. If it is a little loose after putting the adaptor on tape it good with electrical tape.

    These are safe for most applications, and IF your electrical box is grounded. For a fish tank, I would not recommend it long term.
