I never see amphipods in my dt. I have black hawiian(sp?) sand. And I wonder if that is a reason I don't see them. There is plenty in the sump. Don't think the fish get them(cardinals and firefish) the sump has black, fine (I want to say synthetic) sand. The dt has fine to course sizes.

Does anyone know anything ab this? Just curious

    Thanks.

It could be the fish eat them all!! How long have you had your tank up and running? What u can try to do is take the pods from your sump just some of them, and breed them like a large mason jar of them. then add them to the display tank so you know they are in there. Maybe they have never made it there?

Cardinals are the fish to buy to clean any tank out of a pod population. Sorry :( I had so many that they were irritating my zoos-I bought a pj cardinal and the tank was clean in a week.

Believe it or not most pods cannot be seen with the naked eye. Most likely the ones your are seeing are the Amphipods. Larger then the copepods. Also, watch your Cardinal at night as they are pretty much a nocturnal eater. Sorry for the loss of your Mandarin. They are a fish with special requirements.
