What date did you set up your tank? Its possible you already got your spike and never saw it. Dont stress over feeding your tank to get the spike if you have LR with some good growth on it. This will be enough to kick start your cycle so you are most likely fine with that pinch of fish food you added.
Also, I'd pick up some books covering basic marine aquarium keeping that also covers water chemistry. I still skim through my first book sometimes. And go through the beginner forum on 3reef as these threads have some great info, it also covers mistakes we all have made and how to avoid them.. this will save you some money on Advil and stress balls.
    Good luck with the tank!

Thanks everyone and I do have books and I do understand the cycling process. However, I cannot get a straight answer to one question. Once food is introduced (assuming I will get a spike) When on average will I see ammonia? 14 gallon biocube 14 lbs cured live rock. 15 lb live sand. Setup with sand last wed. Rock added last Friday. ammonia tested for everyday since sunday. I have not seen ammonia or nitirite but I do see Nitrate. SO I think my rock was fully cured and I will not see a spike assuming a reasonable load. With all of this said I did email PA and they confirmed it is possible to not have a cycle

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you have nitrates you had ammonia, no way around that unless the water your used had nitrates in it.

The kit may not be able to detect such a small amount of ammonia that it went un-noticed.

IME you should see some ammonia within 48 hours of adding any organic material to decay.

If the rock was indeed cured it maybe doing a sufficient job. That will change though as you add live stock.

I would start with a small CUC, be prepared to do water change and perhaps add some Microbacter7 as directed for the initial acclimation period.

bio spria is a waste of money and time.

I not sure I am following- you have the live rock in the tank yes? If so then this is most likey why your readings are good- add things slowy as already suggested.

If not, try this- add 1 half a CAP full of plain ol' bleach to your tanks water. wait a day- then remesure.
