People who've been around a while know that you can rubberband red cellophane on the front of a flashlight to see what's happening after lights out. (Most night dwellers cannot see the red spectrum).

I've done that for years (and it works). Unfortunately, the light is weak and uneven so I started looking for red LED flashlights. Unfortunately, the ones that I were finding were as pathetic as what I was using or were made for astronomers (when they look at star charts with it, it doesn't cause their pupils to shut down) and were VERY EXPENSIVE. I was frustrated and then I remembered that Boomer (reefkeeping chemistry expert) knew about LED flashlights. He directed me to the Galaxy LED flashlights made by Smith & Wesson. It might not be much bigger than my fist but it sure as heck puts out a LOT of light. This thing is solid. It is built well.

For those of you that like to see what's going on at night, take a gander at those models. (BTW, Sanjay Joshi and Tony Vargas both love this flashlight too).

I can't wait to use it tonight. No one is getting any sleep.

OK but where does it say the light shines red? I looked and none of the ones I seen did. But I am old

Some models shine white and/or red. Other models shine white and/or red and/or blue.

My boyfriend found a red flashlight on the internet somewhere. It just showed up one day on the tank LOL. Might be LED, it has 3 bulbs and looks like Predator is running around in the house!
