Last night we had a pretty bad storm in my area and the power has been out for more than 10 hours.
When my water started getting cold, I added some heatpads inside ziplock bags and started to manually agitate the water to try and get some O2 exchange. I'm about to run out of heat pads and may have enough for 2 more hours. And I've managed to keep my temp on 76F.

Last time I looked at my fish tank with a flashlight, I noticed all my fish are towards the bottom of my tank. Is this because of the complete lack of flow?
They're not breathing fast, that I could see, but now I'm worried that they will die if the power doesn't return and I do not have battery operated air pumps and no other way to heat the water.
I just now also started to get 1 bar on my phone, so I can check with u, 3reef.

    Any advice?

    thanks in advance,

    - Milton.

Do you have any other means of heating water ( gas cooker etc)
you could make some hot water bottles out of empty mineral water/ pop bottles (plastic)

for oxygen, try syphoning out a bucket of water and then pouring it back into the tank every 15 - 30 minutes or so, this will help create a bit of flow and also oxygenation of the aquarium

that being said, my tank with low fish stocking level made it through a series of 8 hour day power outs (power rationing during summer months last year) without any issues short or long term as a direct result

I don't have anything to heat up water that doesn't use power, unfortunately.
I'll do the bucket siphining and re-pouring as u suggest. I don't like this one bit! My parents and brother got.their power back almost immediately after the storm. I could go there to warm up some water if I have to.

Where I live (NZ), we have suffered through some pretty bad earthquakes recently so I have had quite some experience with 3-4 day periods without electricity.
If you are running out of ways to heat the tank, I advise trying to keep it warm through insulation. Wrap the tank in duvets/blankets - they usually cover a tank pretty well and managed to keep mine warm for quite some time. Keep the room warm if possible (we have a fireplace) but I understand that may not be an option.
Stir the water with a plastic jug occasionally. Lift water just above the surface level and pour it back in - this usually aerates the tank quite well. Try to do this quickly though - the longer you mix the water, the longer it is exposed to the cool air.
Hopefully the electricity comes back on soon.

I feel for you buddy I had the same thing happen to me over the winter here in TX. What I did was I ran and bought some heat pack you know the ones that you put into your gloves when its cold outside and put them inside bags and set them to float in the aquarium. I know is not the best idea but it was snowing outside and I had no heater!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. The temp at this moment isn't a problem since it has gone up by itself (due to the sun coming up), but it will get hotter. I already removed my heat packs, which I had floating around in ziplock bags and been siphoning water in a bucket and then dumping it back to oxygenate it. I asked my father and sister to put water bottles in their freezer, and I plan to use that to cool it off when the time comes. It's been 16 and a half hrs without power and I'm starting to get really concerned.
I'm planning to stop by my LFSs' and buy one or two battery operated air pumps ant turn them on and off every so often.

I really hope I get the power back, guys. I'm really concerned about my fish and corals.

Threephace, I'm sending u my info.
