    i went home on lunch and all the fish seem to be doing ok now that the tank temp is back to normal. corals look so so. weird thing is my bubble tip is out and huge like nomal..which is the most sensitive thing in my tank..weird.

    I suppose your referencing the canary in a coal mine phrase?
    Which would mean everything is all good in the tank?

    Sorry about your loss :( I had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago, in hind sight, I should have tried the hot water option, I really do need to have something set up to plan in case of an outage....

    Are you sure? Couldn't you run a smallish 150 watt heater?

    Depending on the inverter size and the draw on it you may have to run constantly. Before I got my generator I would hook an inverter up to the deep cycle batteries from my boat. They will run a long time. Not a bad idea and you can get a pretty decent setupbwith a battery box for $150. My boat batteries cost about $100 a pop and the pair can run my boat electronics and trolling motor for a 12 hhour fishing day.

    Yellowtop Optima batteries should work. They don't leak toxic gases like standard car batteries and people use them in car shows to power a ton of high powered electronics for hours. Once I'm out of college and have the cash, I'll either get that or just a generator if I have a place for one.
