True enough...it's on the long list but at the top after the ro/di unit.
I had to do a bunch of dumping to reoxygenate the water and when that wasn't enouh I had to resort to hydrogen peroxide.

Yea I have a back up powersupply but that was dead after 45 minutes... I think if it happens again I'll just have the heater hooked up(it was 20 degrees outside) I was using a tea pitcher to stir the water

I lost power a few years ago when I was still living in PA. Luckily I had a generator that I was able to fire up and keep the tank running. Good thing too cuz the power ended up being out for 3 days.

I like the hand warmer idea. Those warmers usually last about 8 hours. All you guys on the east coast have it the worst. Not many power outages on the west coast LOL.

Good Deal! Used on craiglist is the best way to go. Just make sure you have enough gas on hand to keep the genny running.

I ran out of gas when the power was off for a few days and found myself walking down the street asking the neighbors for gas since the roads were waaaay to bad to drive on LOL.

That sucks, and I live right down the street from a gas station so if I always keep 10 gallons on hand, I'd be set

Don't those need oxygen to work, like oxygen helps them perrform the magic of warming up?

I guess a gas stove is a good option for when I move. I take it for granted, but it's got it's percs.

Thats an excellent idea. It's like a really cheap generator. I've got some old UPS's laying around, but even those only give you a slim amount of time unless you go with bare essentials like heater and powerhead.

i have a back up air pump. it was cheap. 12.00 runs on batter'ys. power was off this summer for 8 hours and it ran on the battery's in it. and still has power. they can be placed in the tank and when the power goes off they turn on and not before, great for keeping the water aerated during a power outage.

i think i see a generator in my future though.

I like the generator idea. Thankfully one of the perks of living on base is that there is a back up power plant on here and they let us know when the power will be out so I can get prepared. Were moving next year so I can see a generator in my future.
