Welp, day three and still no power. We are taking about a gallon of tank water out and warming it then putting it back in. I also have a battery powered air stone in so its helping some. The kids are also going over and using a big plastic spoon and turning the water a lil'bit.

Other than that, bc219 has been sending me some yahoo and gmail chats and checking the electric companies site for me.. Major ±K to her when I get my power up and the karma button shows up. :)

Starting to run low on propane but we are still warm. Till the next update!! Thnks reefers!!!

    Sup guys/gals!
Ty for the kind PM's and wishing of luck.

It's truly been a test with this storm..
While trying to keep the 2 kids and my wife safe and secure, I'm also taking care of my 16year old sister and boy is she moody at times....

We went yesterday and tried to secure a small generator, nothing within 50 miles from what Lowes / Home Depot. and wallie world stated...... But I'm gonna start checking into getting a natural gas generator and get it setup since the wife and I are gonna start doing the frag thing rather serious this summer.

    Currently,
I'm at work. Wife and kids have the truck today so they can drive around and get some small supplies. My wife is also going to visit the LFS and pick up a battery powered power-head to run a few hours at a time till power is restored.

Here is what we did with the water temp. The lowest the water has reached is 60. We have been able to keep it at 65 by taking out 1gallon of tank water and warming it with tap water in the sink (just sit the 1g jug in the hot tap water till it warmed up then slowly put the water back into the tank) ..

That process has worked thus far, the only thing not looking good is our zoa's . Everything else looks ok.

I'll update once power is restored and let ya know how it goes.

    Otty,
Know of a good natural gas setup that is under $3,000 ? thnkx guy!

    Got off work, came home...

    POWER!

So first thing I did was pull my spare heater (fish heater) and put it in the tank and got it going. Also got the skimmer going too and moved the power heads to all point up.

U SHOULD SEE ALL THE DEAD BRISTLE WORMS!!!
There are loads and loads of them.. Tiny ones too!!

    Fish look good...

    The following have passed on:

    3 white hermits
too many bristle worms to count
    5 small serpent star fish

Snails are good - water STINKS!
Skimmer is going and water temp is slowly coming up. The tank is 60 right now, and the heater is set to 65. I'm gonna bring it up slow so I don't shock them. Should be back to 78 by tomorrow morning.

Good to hear you have power now. Hope you don't loose much livestock. Hearing this makes me glad I put in a generator. I couldn't begin to count how much money would go down the drain if power was off here for a few days.
