for coralline algae to grow you have to have the correct balance of calcium, alkalinity and mag. i bought the bulk stuff from bulk reef supply. calcium chloride, soda ash and mag chloride. when i ran out of the mag chloride i bought some mag sulfate(epsom salt) and my coralline started growing. now its everywhere. i don't know if it was the epsom salt or not but i would try it and see.

how long has your tank been running? looks very young. i don't know about the algae, could be from new setup. it probably will go away on its own in time. alk is on the low side, i like to run around 12 dkh. test your mag(it will be way low) get it up to 1450 ppm. use mag chloride from bulk reef supply. once your mag is up, you can use epsom salt every once in a while with water changes. i always have to add mag and alk to my fresh salt water for water changes.

You posted back awesome! yeah I cant find this algae anywhere and yes my tank is young, about about 4 months old now. I will get a mag test kit next week and dose it. This might be what my corraline needs to really take off.

My tank has been running for 7months. It's a 75 gallon. I keep on top of my water changes. My calcium magnesium and dkh are spot on. Im just now starting to get it. It's growing on my back glass, powerheads, hermits and snails :)

Sad part is, I just moved everything over to my 135g and must wait all over again LOL
    just takes time.

Really that has been my ultimate goal since I started this hobby. I did some calculations and I need to throw an extra 500 to finish my tank :(. For one my test kits are api I just read that they suck does anyone know if they are accurate? I need to get some decent ones like salifert. I need to get calc mag and alk. Another 20 long, the pump the drill bit to do make the overflow holes and im thinking about getting the kit from ipsf. This is all going to take a few months to get up and running. But hopefully by then my water will be pefect and everything should be fine.

Test kits can be a personal opinion. Ive always used API without issue and of course there are better kits out there. Also, I would advise only dosing what you are testing! make sure you get yourself some new kits. Lighting also plays a factor in growth and color patterns in coraline. I don't recall who created that post, but you can find it on our forums. Good comparison between MH and T5. Have you tried turning off all power heads, and filtration, and scraping the coraline rock to spread the spores from time to time? The more the merrier lol.

Im right along with you with the lack of coraline, but stated earlier it takes time.
    Best of Luck
