My powerhead failed sometime in the past 24-36 hours. My protien skimmer was also down for that time because I was repairing a crack, and I wasnt worried about just that being out for 24 hours. The only water movement I had was from my little filter pump (not sure what they are usually called, but the one that looks like the kind you also use with freshwater tanks, has little filter pads in it.) I know that that particular pump doesnt move near enough water.

When I discovered the powerhead fail, I removed the cover from the tank to provide a slightly better oxygen exchange, placed the only air stone I have in it (very small size, it was only meant for my 1 gallon freshwater quarintine tank), and I put my protien skimmer back. (it is producing microbubbles right now, It needs to be fine tuned still.)

Anything else I can do to keep everything alive and healthy until I can get a powerhead bought and installed tommorrow evening? Do lights on or off matter?

It is a 35 gallon tank with 40-60 lbs live rock plus sand. 2 clown fish, 3 damels, and a large cuc I just ordered from reefcleaners, No corals, only 1 rock anemone.

Do you have an old fashioned pump, airline and air stone?

The only one I have is only big enough for a 1 gallon tank. I put it in because some is better then none.

Ask your lfs if they have an old pump you could barrow.

    Just an update

I got a new powerhead bought from my lfs and installed less then an hour ago.

No fish deaths nor did I see any that looked like they were breathing harder, potentially 5-10 snail deaths, but considering I JUST recieved a shipment of snails and crabs and It was the last time I had seen my powerhead working was when adding them, I cant really contribute their death to that.

One thing I did do that potential made a difference was I turned off my lights and turned my heater down 1.5 degrees the first day and down 1.5 more degrees the second day because colder water holds more dissolved oxygen.
