I have a Pan World 100 for the skimmer. But best to set it up like Otty has and use one huge pump. Less Electricity and more flow that can run phosban reactors and stuff too.
Maybe next years project. Check out his manifold build if you haven't already. That's what I would like to do.

Wait he has one pump doing everything? thats impressive. I will have 3 pumps one for each overflow and one for the skimmer and actually one small one for the phosban reactor.

Cost a lot less and there is no heat in the water because they are external pumps.

Been using them every since I left ETSS skimmers What size tank do you have ? and they pull alot more then what they are rated for so unless you figure on up sizing to a larger tank ? We about stopped offering any other skimmer out there unless its requested or a special needs skimmer like HOB type. The P/M bullet is as good as any skimmer on the market . Grat skimmer and easy to set up and adust and not at all loud .. I'd also go with the external pump a mag 1800 is a heat makeing pump .

If you drill a hole in your sump you can just run the Mag18 out of the water.

I think this is the way im going to set it up on this and if I decide to change pumps later then that would be ok too. It said on the box for internal or external use.

Well, it will help then on the electric costs for running your heaters ;D, but if the room the tank is in gets hot enough in the summer to where you need to run a chiller, the external pump is going to make a difference.

Good choice on running it external.

A Mag is fine to run dry outside the sump or water , I have used them many times for simple circulation and have a Mag 2400 still as a main pump outside the sump..

Well The drilling went well and the only casulity is the nipple for the ozone. I broke it setting the skimmer in the cabinet. I guess otherwise went well. Now for the adjusting part of it.
