No, unless you want algae problems The Kelvin is too low Goto either Hellolights.com or marinedepot.com They both have the best selection at the best prices

Nothing less than 10,000k for a reef 6400 is way too yellow

14,000 is the best color depending on the bulb

Hmm thats sounds interesting, altho i may buy a regular fixture with everything. I wanted to make a DIY canopy, had everything already but no idea if put or not MH in there, the problem is that you cant find retrofits in here so im using whatever i can get my hands on and the non aquaria fixture seemed like a good idea.

Alitle question that was not much to do with this, i have notived that in most cases the MH bulbs are just above cross braces, doesnt it take strenght from the light before entering the water?

The biggest issue of halides over braces is the heat they make. if they melt a brace, it might allow your tank to bow, and possibly break.

I use non aquarium halides to test out my wiring when I do retrofit MH's. But I don't use them on the tank, Whey will cause algal issues quickly.
