What's my best option to prevent a spill? Twice now, my overflow drain has been slowed down (algae?) enough to cause the display to trickle a gallon ot so onto the floor. It was gping to happen a 3rd time, but I redesigned my intake pipe to have a set of lower holes and a set of upper holes. It worke din preventing a spill last night.

Being that I am moving to the 3rd floor of an apartment, I would really like to find a better way at preventing the issue. I can't drill the tank as it's a 55 gallon tempered aquarium.

Would a dual overflow work better? Should I set one intake pipe higher than the other?

Any reasonably cheap ideas on how to prevent an ATO with an aqualifter pump from getting stuck and continually pumping?

How about ideas for back siphoning prevention?

I would hide that pluming with an overflow box like the following, but I may cut a piece of 4" PVE in half to make one instead. Thoughts?

Looks like it will work, I like that it doesn't lose it's prime. I used an eshopps overflow and it keeps it's prime too, I love that feature.

I like the half circle cover, you should paint it with some krylon fusion, black or something and it be look just like the professional one!

Simplest and easiest would be to get an Eshopps PF-1000 overflow box with the dual drains (I use one on my 55). One of the drains should handle up to 500 GPH (or more). For the other, I replaced the stock tube with a longer piece of 1" (or maybe 3/4", I can't remember) PVC to act as an emergency. Otherwise, get a ball valve on your return pump and slow the flow down.

Well I made and installed the plumbing. Would I get more flow if I were to cut slots into the intake pipe?

Get an awesome mop. Right now you have an empty tank, invest in a drilled tank.
